Eligibility Criteria for Application and Other Norms
- Application for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of the College Research Centres will be made to the Principal online within the stipulated date in the prescribed form along with self-attested copies of testimonials of the candidate.
- A person who has obtained a Master's Degree or a degree deemed equivalent from any university or institution of higher learning (UGC affiliated) or such other degree as may be considered sufficient for this purpose will also be eligible for admission. The candidate has to obtain at least 55% marks (or its equivalent grade in the CGPA system) for the students of UR Category and 50% marks (or its equivalent grade in the CGPA system) for the students of SC, ST, PH, OBC-A and OBC-B categories. However, the following provisions are to be noted:
- A candidate must have completed at least a total period of 5 years in UG and PG studies or equivalent from a UGC Recognized Institution or University of India / Abroad; and
- The candidate is not currently admitted as a student in any full-time course of studies or registered for doing a Ph.D. in any other university; and
- A candidate who has a regular M.Phil./M.Tech has to apply online and appear only at the interview (VIVA-VOCE) to be conducted by the Research Centre; and
- Candidates who have qualified for the NET - UGC (JRF/LS) / CSIR (JRF/LS) /GATE/SET or any other equivalent examinations have to apply online and appear at the interview (VIVA-VOCE) only; or
- The candidates who have passed the RET conducted by the Vidyasagar University have to appear at the interview (VIVA-VOCE).
- The interview (VIVA-VOCE) for final selection will be held at Vidyasagar University. After final selection, successful candidates have to complete the course work and thereafter students will opt for Ph. D. Supervisor and research theme in consultation with the concerned department of the College.
- Mere successful performance in the viva voce examination will not confer any guarantee to a candidate for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Admission of the successful candidates also depends on the availability of seats, supervisors’ and according to the reservation policy of the Government in the respective Department.
Employed persons, if selected for admission, will have to submit NOC from their present Employer in the form of a hard copy in original, before commencement of Ph.D. Course Work.
